He arrived speaking no English and hobbled by serious injuries resulting from the war; seven years later Irv graduated high school and was a standout on his track and football teams. After attending college and podiatry school, Irv became a renowned leader in his field, building one of the largest podiatry practices in the nation. He married his high school sweet heart and raised three happy children and eleven grandchildren. M. Hirsh Goldberg is the author of five nationally published books, as well as three authorized family histories. His books have been translated into French, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. He lectures widely on his books and has been interviewed on "Good Morning America," "The CBS Early Morning Show," "The Joan Rivers Show," Canada's leading TV talk show, and numerous other TV and radio programs. A native of Baltimore, he is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a bachelor's degree in English, a master's in teaching, and a minor in the Creative Writing Seminars at Hopkins. He has more than 30 years experience in public relations, with accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America, and has served as press secretary and speech writer for a Governor of Maryland and a Mayor of Baltimore.
