Nan was born and raised in Santa Barbara, where she has lived throughout her life. As children, Nan and her three siblings spent their summers playing at the beach and hiking in the mountains.Nan married her childhood sweetheart and they had three children. Nan encouraged her children to read and to be creative. She taught them the importance of trying to make the world a better place.This book is one of the stories Nan made up to entertain her children. At the suggestion of a dear friend, Nan wrote this book so that other children could enjoy it. She asked Emilie Clark to illustrate it.For many yeas, Nan volunteered as an art teacher in kindergarten and first grade classrooms. She lives with Tosca, her Siamese cat, in a home she built in the foothills. Nan is still trying to make the world a better place.
