Ronald Pennell is arguably the most celebrated engraver of glass working in Britain today. His oeuvre spans a range of media, from medals to gemstones and glass, unique within British contemporary craft practice.
This first survey of his virtuosity in a range of media reveals links between his early designs in metal and gem engravings to subsequent engraved glass vessels, cast bronze medals and, most recently, glass sculptures combining carving and casting techniques. For the first time many of these diverse works held in both public and private collections are illustrated in book form.
Ronald Pennell is Visiting Professor of Glass Studies at the University of Wolverhampton.
