Summary

This story is about two unrelated young boys and their struggle in coping with tragedy and adjusting to a new way of life. Their paths crossed when they found themselves residing at the same orphanage in southern Illinois. Having similar backgrounds they could relate to, they soon became close friends. Neither of them enjoyed the restrictive life they found at the orphanage and planned together to leave and strike out on their own. After leaving, their real adventure begin. With the help of a retired school teacher and a concerned farmer and his wife, they manage to get by until a terrible storm changes things. It is a compelling story combining tragedy, compassion and understanding along with the growing love and bonding of a family.
