Summary

Prefaced by an introduction to the field of Political Economy for the general reader, the book presents chapters in chronological order, beginning with the communal system and concluding with today's post-industrial/service system which permeates the District. Author Biography

Abdul Karim Bangura is Founding Director of The Center for Success and Assistant Professor of Political Science at Bowie State University, Professorial Lecturer in Political Science at Howard University, Researcher-In-Residence at the Center for Global Peace and Professorial Lecturer in International Peace and Conflict Resolution at The American University, and Director of The African Institution Mario D. Fenyo is Professor of History at Bowie State University Jasmin E. Hewitt is with the Public Relations Office in the Embassy of Barbados Anslem Jackson is doing graduate work in Political Science at Howard University Will Jones is pursuing a Ph.D. in Political Science at Howard University ReShone LeVelle Moore is with the United States Department of Education's White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in Political Science at Howard University
