Shayla & The Dream Factory introduces Shayla's family members, friends and original and unique characters in Shayla's life, opening the door for future stories that take children beyond stereotypical everyday events. It's objective; to make it possible for them to use their eyes and hearts to see and feel potential good, even when they feel overwhelmed by situations beyond their control.It empowers children to utilize critical thinking through structural,creative, reading and excercises.It offers a side glimpse of the escapisms that many children employ to deal with uncertain times and frightening grown-up interactions. A judicious attempt to explore and explain how constant change can be good, can be bad, and can be dealt with by unusual methods. It is cultural neutral and encompassing.

Born in Columbia, SC and reared in a single parent home, she discovered a passion for reading and writing at an early age. She was influenced by the literary prowess of Angelou, Hughes, Frost and Kipling. She received an Associate of Applied Science degree(Law enforcement) from Central Texas College, and a Bachelor of Science(Criminal Justice)from The University of SC. She is a member of Alpha Phi Sigma,a motivational speaker and lecturer to numerous religious, community, and civic organizations. She is the author of Through My Eyes, A Collection of Poetry, and featured radio interview guest
