Les Ballets de Monte Carlo 30 Seasons of Dance

H.S.H. Princess Grace of Monaco had long dreamed of giving new life to the Ballets de Monte Carlo. In 1985, her daughter, H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover made the decision to bring this dream to fuition by creating a new permanent company, The Ballets de Monte Carlo. "It was a shame to discontinue not only the tradition but also the innovation in dance. Many people were of this opinion and thought that it was absolutely necessary to reconnect with this exceptional and astounding heritage with Diaghilev, Nijinsky and so many others left behind," the princess explained entrusing the direction of the new company to Ghislaine Thesmar and Pierre Lacotte. In 30 seasons, from 1985 to 2015, this book invites you to discover the history of the Ballets de Monte Carlo.

Jean-Christophe Maillot is the director of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo. He has been a choregrapher since 1977. He wrote Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, 30 seasons of dance under the presidence of Caroline de Monaco, Princess of Hanover.
