Author Biography

Mary P. McGowan, M.D., is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the division of cardiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Currently president of the Northeast Cholesterol Foundation, Dr. McGowan has authored numerous scientific articles in the field of preventive cardiology and has been a medical consultant for NBC's Today show. She is also the author of Heart Fitness for Life.

Jo McGowan-Chopra is a freelance writer based in Dehra Doon, India. Her articles have appeared in Newsweek and Span, as well as all the major daily newspapers in India. She is also a regular columnist for Commonwealth and is the coauthor of Heart Fitness for Life.
