And at the heart of it, to delight in the magic of the quotidian moments of life; like the fragrance of a sweet dessert, the glory of a majestic mountain, the ethereal light of dawn, music from the piano that fills a home, and the aching beauty that nature gifts us consistently and unfailingly.

Her 16-year-old son, Arjun, co-authored the chapbook, bringing his unique lens to exploring these themes. The poems trace the trajectory of Arjun's evolving ideas and perspectives from 8 -16 years.

Author Biography

SAVITA KRISHNAMOORTHY is an art historian, educator, organizer, and writer from India, based in Redmond, WA. She is a founding member and co-organizer for Black Cinema Collective, a Washington-based group of multicultural artists and scholars who celebrate works of African and Afro-diasporic filmmakers through programmed screenings and community discussions.

Her writing publications include?The Times of India,?Feminist Media Histories?(University of California Press),?Courageous Creativity,?Black Embodiment Studio Journal, and the?International Examiner, Seattle, where she is a regular contributor writing on books, the arts, and culture.

ARJUN NAGAMANGALAM is a Junior in High School whose first love is the piano. He is an (almost) Eagle Scout, and his other interests include snowboarding, soccer, and Ultimate Frisbee, where he plays on his school's Varsity team. He also loves cooking and is working on perfecting the art of the soufflé that is "as light as a feather and fluffy as a cloud."
