Excerpts

Scott began to laugh out loud. "Is that all you've got? Is that the best that you can do?" Scott reached up and grabbed Jason around the ribs and lifted him off of his chest and threw him to the side with little effort. He climbed to his feet and turned back toward Brie. "Now to finish what I started." "Scott, you leave her alone. What is wrong with you? Why are you doing this?" Becky questioned as she jumped in front of him. Scott pushed her out of the way as he continued toward Brie. Brie walked backward and called for Jason, worried that he was hurt. She looked for him across the room while she tried to keep track of Scott's progress. She finally saw Jason get up off of the floor and advance in their direction again, this time though he was not alone. Joshua, Mr. Peavey, and Pastor Kincaid were coming with him. Jason hit him hard in the gut and put him on the floor again with his shoulder. Before Jason could begin beating Scott in the face again, the other men were there and helping to hold him down. "This is not Mr. Hall!" Pastor Kincaid declared. "He's possessed and needs help." "Well, you better help him quick or else I will beat that demon out of him," Jason promised. "Jason, we are going to need for you to step away for a moment and go take care of Brie," Joshua said. "Y'all better know what you're doing." "I assure you that we do. Now, please go see about your wife!" Pastor Kincaid assured Jason as they struggled to hold down their hostage. "Please try not to hurt him!" Becky pleaded. "Everyone, please go to the other side of the room at least," Joshua requested. Everyone crossed the room as they were asked and nervously watched what the pastors were doing carefully. Becky was as scared as she had ever been in her life. She stood there biting her nails with Brie and Jason (after asking for forgiveness), both placing a hand on her shoulder. Pastor Kincaid began to pray earnestly, "Dear Lord, we come to you needing your help and claiming your promises that wherever two or more are gathered in your name that you will be there and that anything asked in your name will be granted." As he said those words, Scott began to struggle fiercely. He moaned in what was almost better described as a growl and slowly began lifting Mr. Peavey on one arm and Joshua on the other. Scott was no longer laughing, he was now letting a string of obscenities roll that would have made a sailor blush. Seeing her husband like this made a flood of tears come pouring from Becky's eyes. While her husband had never been a saint, she had never heard him use language like that before. She could not watch him go through this. She turned her back to the activity and buried her face in Jason's chest, and Brie came in behind her putting her arm across her shoulders to comfort her. "Lord, we request your authority over the powers of darkness that we may expel the demon that has taken over this man and give us the strength to fight this battle." Pastor Kincaid redirected his focus to the man struggling beneath him. "You can not have him back!" Scott said. But it wasn't his voice exactly. It was deeper and had a gravily quality to it. "He is not yours to possess. Let him go!" "Never! I possess whatever I claim and I claim, this man," the spirit screamed. Scott began to thrash around, displaying strength that no human of his size should have been able to. Mr. Peavey and Joshua were pushed into each other, causing them to bump heads and almost fall off of Scott's arms. He kicked his legs high trying to hit Pastor Kincaid and thrust his pelvis into the air to buck Pastor Kincaid off of his chest. Despite his best efforts, Scott was unable to throw the men, and they continued to pray. "Get off of me, you insignificant rat. If you think that you can make me leave, then you are very mistaken. You can't hold me here forever, and when I get up, you are going to die. Are you ready to die, rat?" Scott chided the men.
