Summary

Who needs Trauma Responsive Care? Everyone.

Informed by two decades of clinical experience, Lara Palay empowers intellectual and developmental disability professionals to recognize and effectively help heal trauma in the individuals they serve. Palay provides practical tools to support better outcomes for individuals while also addressing the needs and concerns of those who work in the field each day.

"Trauma Responsive Care as a universal precaution is always the smart bet. Treat each person as if they need to feel safe, connected, and in control. Act this way first, before you ask anything else of them (or of yourself, for that matter)." — from Chapter Four

The Way Through is full of easy-to-understand strategies you can implement today. This book is a must-have for any professional who wants to better care for the people they serve.
