Orangel A. Aguilera is Professor Emeritus at the Universidad Francisco de Miranda in Coro. He has published extensively on recent and fossil faunas of the Caribbean region, especially on fish faunas, in collaboration with the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institution, where he has been an associate researcher for many years.
Alfredo A. Carlini is a researcher at the Argentinian Research Council (CONICET) and a faculty member of the Universidad de La Plata in Argentina.
