Trespassing

Trespassing is the first extensive monograph on artist Nathalie Grenzhaeuser and combines pictures from two sparsely populated regions Spitzbergen in the arctic, and the Australian outback.In these locations, where civilisation seems to stop, massive human interventions have left behind their mark which Grenzhaeuser clearly depicts. However, her photographs do not just document these places.If you look more closely, you will notice that shadows fall in different directions, different visual elements do not fit together in terms of perspective, or an added dramatic sky gives the bare scenery a more intensive effect.Nathalie Grenzhaeuser uses digital processing to create valid images from the photos of found locations which are also icons of globalisation.Included is an interview with Nathalie Grenzhaeuser by Ursula Schöndeling.Published to accompany the group exhibition Forbidden Worlds at Galerie Christa Burger, Munich 8 September 21 October 2011 and Margins, 7th Biennial of Photography Poznan, 23 September 30 October, 2011.
