The Rising Shades

Imagine having the weight of a thousand worlds dumped onto your shoulders. That's exactly what happens to Elani Williamson, an easy-going, teenage girl with increasingly unnerving magical powers, when she is kidnapped by a strange group of radicals who tell her she is the last of a great race of heroes. Everything Elani knows turns out to be a lie when she enters a world of magic, mayhem, and treachery. As the radicals train her to be something she can never become and prepare her to do something she loathes, she begins to question if the good side is really good after all.
