Author Biography

Michael Potegal is Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Division of Pediatric clinical Neuroscience within the Department of Pediatrics at University of Minnesota Medical Center. He has published numerous articles on anger and aggression in young children, and is co-editor of The Dynamics of Aggression: Biological and Social Processes in Dyads and Groups (Erlbaum, 1994). Gerhard Stemmler is Professor of Differential and Personality Psychology and Chair of the Department of Psychology at Philipps University in Marburg, Germany. From 1996 to 1997 he was President of the German Psychophysiological Society. From 1991 to 2001 he was Consulting Editor for Journal of Psychophysiology. He is currently Associate Editor of Cognition and Emotion and on the editorial board of Journal of Individual Differences. He is a member of the German Psychological Society, the German Psychophysiological Society, the International Society for the Study of Individual Differences, and the Society for Psychophysiological Research.Charles Spielberger is Distinguished Research Professor of Psychology and Director for the Center for Research in Behavioral Medicine and Health Psychology at the University of South Florida, Gainesville. He previously directed the USF Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology and was a tenured faculty member at Duke, Vanderbilt, and Florida State University, where he was also Director of Clinical Training. During 1991-1992, he served as the 100th President of the American Psychological Association. He served as President of the International Association of Applied Psychology (1998-2202) and the International Stress Management Association (1992-2000), and as Chair for the National Council of Scientific Society Presidents (1996-1997) and the International Psychology Committee of the National Academy of Science (1996-2000). He is a Fellow of Sigma Xi, the Society for Behavioral Medicine, and 14 APA Divisions, and a member of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research, the Psychonomic Society, the Society for Psychophysiological Research, and the New York Academy of Sciences.
