Excerpts

From the series foreword by Paul McCartney:

"As Linda used to say, 'Being vegetarian is about living life, not ending it.' And veggies have known for years that it's a lot easier to end the suffering of others if you don't have to suffer yourself to do it! . . . These days, the idea of the vegetarian as some sort of dour, suffering martyr is long gone, thanks to the wonderful variety of food that we veggies can easily prepare or find on a menu. . . .

Vegetarianism takes care of so many things in one shot: ecology, famine, cruelty, health--and it's great to see that nowadays more and more people are looking for kinder ways of living. So if you haven't given vegetarianism a try, now is the time to do it, while you're on a trip and can look forward to really incredible meals prepared by some of the world's best chefs. . . . And for you vegetarians who've bought this guide--I don't need to convince you of the benefits of the veggie lifestyle. But I do want to tell you that this series is a sign that things are getting better--for vegetarians, for the animals, and for the planet.

You've made the right choice. There are more options than ever, more vegetarians than ever, and now there are these great new Vegetarian World Guides. Linda was right when she said, "Going veggie is the single best idea for the new century!"

Sample entry:

For the littlest family members, nothing is more wondrous than a Character Breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table, with the fairytale princess herself presiding. This all-you-can-eat feast is great for both vegetarians and strict vegans, provided you've given the chefs plenty of notice. Call a week ahead to arrange for homemade vegan pancakes served with 100% pure maple syrup and vegetarian sausage, a Brobdingnagian fresh fruit platter, or homemade muesli with your choice of rice or soy milk--and that's just what the chef we spoke with dreamed up on the spot. Request what you like, and it shall be yours. After all, when you're seated at Cinderella's Table, you are royalty!
