Summary

It seemed as though Jasmine Burrell had it all figured out. A six-figure income, all the material goods she could stand, access to the finest men, and the best friends in the world to share it with. There was nothing or no one powerful enough to stop her.But when her religious upbringing and the demons from her past threaten to expose her insecurities, she panics, and her life begins a downward spiral towards self-destruction. Instead of turning to God for His graciousness and unconditional love as she had been taught, she constantly turned on God, blaming Him for all her struggles and losses.Marcus Damon, the love of her life, miraculously re-enters the picture, and Jasmine begins to believe she may once again have a chance at true happiness, falling fast for the promise of love, marriage, and a happily ever after. But unbeknownst to her, Marcus has secrets of his own that threaten to destroy her fragile true self. Then there's Kevin, the handsome designer who gives Jasmine the gift of a lifetime-and even with that, her life doesn't seem right. Her self-esteem begins to dissolve and she contemplates the worst ending possible.Would she choose to accept the tumultuous state of her world, and continue to disregard the signs from God that He so clearly placed before her? Or will she heed his word, hold on to faith, what she was brought up to believe as a child, and get to the Promised Land?"I Surrender All," is the story of a woman who was raised to believe in God's love, but through all her trials and tribulations, never truly believed she had ever experienced it, because why else would she have had to endured all that she had? This story is about truth, God's truth, and she has no other choice but to surrender all to his will or die trying.

Excerpts

I walked in looking for Marcus and quickly spotted him in the corner, with his back towards the door. Even from behind I could see he was looking good, as usual. I quietly walked up behind him and covered his eyes with my hands. He let out a small yell, an exclamation of surprise—and somehow I sensed, piercing fear. I jumped a little.
"Hey, hey, Marcus, it's me; are you all right?"
"Oh ... yeah baby, I'm fine. I've just been so engrossed in this business deal that I had forgotten it would only take you a moment to get here. I actually wasn't expecting you for another couple of minutes and I had a lot of things on my mind."
He stood up and kissed me gently on the lips; but the hug he gave me felt different. His back was rigid, his arms tense; I couldn't help but think—as I had been trying not to since I called him last night—that something was really wrong; something that he didn't intend to tell me about.
Three empty cream containers lay on the napkin in front of his cup, so he must have already been on his third cup of coffee; he only used one cream to every cup of coffee. Not like myself, who had to have at least three, sometimes four creams to every cup.
Something seemed off, and for a minute, I couldn't figure it out. Then I realized what it was. "So Marcus, where are all your bags and the things you're taking home?" I asked him, puzzled.
"Oh, I've already taken them to the airport; I wanted to be able to spend as much time with you as I possibly could before I left. I didn't want to be weighed down and bothered by all them bags."
"I see."
Something still didn't feel right. I prided myself on reading eyes and connecting to people's vibes, and Marcus' were surely out of whack. He was strained but controlled, soft but edgy. Something was definitely wrong, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
An ugly thought popped into my head: Oh my God, had he cheated on me? He was so good at making me feel comfortable; I always let my guard down when I was with him. Had I let it down too much and let another woman sneak into his bed?
I took a big swig of my coffee and backed my thoughts up. There is no way he had cheated on me, he loved me and he knew I loved him. He would never begin to hurt me in that way; plus his demeanor did not suggest that. It was more of an anxious sort, a kind of nervousness that oozed out of every pore.
"Well, baby, what time does your flight leave?" Without looking at me he replied, "At ten-thirty; I found a direct flight on Northwest."
I couldn't take it anymore. I took his chin in my hand and looked directly into his eyes. "Baby, what's going on?"
He looked up from his writing; the peacefulness he usually exuded was nowhere to be found.
I held his hand. "You know you can tell me anything, right?"
"Yes, I know but right now is not the time." His voice was sharp and dry.
"Well, when do you think is a good time?" I said gently, trying not to stir up any conflict, although I was a little perturbed. "I need answers, sweetie; it's killing me to see you like this."
"I know baby, and in due time I'll have them for you. Let's not fight; I have only a few moments to spend with you before I leave and I want this time to be as pleasant as possible." He spoke to me firmly; I'd hear him use that tone long ago, but not since he had been back, so it spun me remembering how short his fuse could be.
"All right, I'm going to let you off the hook this time but just know I intend to be a part of everything you have going on, even if it is painful." I smiled and patted his hand, trying to be as accommodating as possible.
Marcus looked at me; the sweetness and sincerity in his eyes was killing me. He truly loved me and wanted not to hurt me, not even a little bit. He reached forward to kiss me, and with both our eyes closed ...
Marcus Damon, would you please stand and put your hands behind your back, you're under arrest.
